Angela Martin: Hi, I’m Angela Martin and welcome to number 59 Butler drive in Kuranda. One of the first things you’ll notice when you come up that beautiful long driveway into this property is the sense of privacy and the sense of space. Notwithstanding, a massive big shed that will obviously appeal to the men in the family just hang in there we will go and have a tour a little bit later on. The actual location too is perfect. We are living at the top of the range estate, so it is super duper close to Smithfield shopping centre. It’s only 15 minutes away, but you still feel as if you are in your world heritage rainforest. It is a beautiful, beautiful part of the world. Let’s go in and have a look. You’re going to fall in love with it.
That patio is a really gorgeous entrance into the main part of the house, and the couple of times that the sun’s been really, really hot this time of year it is beautiful and cool, but let’s do a little bit of orientation. This is an original style house. Only two sets of owners have had it, and the original one was a builder. So it has been built strong and it is over engineered. It’s big and it’s how older style houses used to be built and how they should still be built for the tropics.
We’ve got beautiful high ceilings. We’ve got doors that go in and out pretty much from all of the rooms, so you can get outdoors indoors, and great big open kitchen. This I think is magic. It is really functional. We’ve got a gas cooking. We’ve got plenty and plenty of bench space and that pantry in there is huge. A little bit of orientation, big living area. Then this side of the house, we have got great big hallway, great big bathroom, and we’ve got three bedrooms. Again, we’ve got plenty of storage down the side. Then off to one side we’ve got the laundry, bigger than average laundry.
This side here used to have, or it still is, it was a single-carport. You might have noticed we have broader door going up and down when we come into the house. It’s been beautifully converted into an art room or a craft room and an office, perfect amount of space for even the biggest of families. Great big balcony out the back and keep it a little secret, a little thing that we can jump into later.
In the meantime, let’s have a look and let’s head down and have a look at the great big hallway with those bedrooms. I did say that this was a really, really big hallway. It would have to be one, two pretty much three meters wide. You just don’t find that anywhere else. Again, I mentioned cupboard space, plenty of storage.
We’ve got bedroom one, bedroom two, bedroom three, master. They have a big really big bathroom. The brilliant thing about down in here is the laundry, it actually has an extra toilet and an extra shower. Again, perfect for family and friends. When you’re looking in the rooms, make sure you look out they’ve all got little beautiful individual decks, have a wander.
As if that wasn’t enough space, we are going to go outside in a minute. Again, just take 30 seconds just to marvel at how usable this great big living area is, but this is what we mentioned at the beginning, very, very, very clever. This could be converted back into a single carport if you wanted to, but perfect for a granny flat, perfect for a craft room. It’s all beautifully fly screened and the roller door does still the work, and you could access out to the garden.
And then just behind us, we’ve actually got a room again that has been made into an office, but could easily be a bedroom. Have a look and then we are going to head out the back and then into that fabulous shed.
The gardens, my goodness, were on about 4,500 square meters, so that’s just over an acre. This was this lovely padley thing that I was talking about at the beginning; a spa bath. You can just imagine that it’s gorgeous in the evenings or on a really hot day like today, just cooling down and enjoying the beautiful, beautiful environment. It really is a magical part of the world.
Now the gardens are all usable, we’ve got plenty of fruit trees, we’ve got plenty of space around the house. Again, one of the things that you maybe didn’t notice was that the house looks like it is beautifully painted all rendered block, and that was done only about a year ago. So low maintenance, all you have to do is just move in and enjoy little treasures like this. We’re going to have a quick walk around the garden and then we’re going to look at that shed.
We mentioned fruit trees, but look at all these bananas; we’ve got heaps of them. Now, we can go around the shed a couple of different ways, obviously we come up the top of the driveway or we can come around the side of the house with that magic big deck. We have got just beautiful plants, the garden is really gorgeous, little pentas there, butterflies love them, garden shed, and then we’ve got a big three base shed, but the awning on the side here can be used for caravan, or a motor home, or a boat, something that you really just love and you want to protect.
This shed, oh my goodness, it is massive and it is super handy close to the house and it’s super handy at the top of the driveway, because you can bring your trailer up, you can park your cars. It is well used, but here is the magical thing about this particular shed. We have a toilet in the corner, just for when you cannot bear to leave your projects but you don’t see these things any longer.
If you are a mechanic or you like to service lawnmowers, or just pretty much do whatever you want to do with machinery; old cars restoration, we have a genuine inspection pit. Now you’re not going to be able to see down in there but it is deep and you can stand upright so that you can get into your cars. What a man shed, unbelievably brilliant.
I really hope you’ve enjoyed this our of number 59 Butler Drive in Kuranda. How gorgeous is that? Hanging baskets you could put whatever you wanted on there, herbs or flowers. Way back at the beginning, we talked about what a great entrance this is. Hopefully you can see it’s super duper bright outside, very, very, very warm, and here we are beautiful and cool and sheltered. Of course, we have got the big balcony at the back. Just bear with me, we just do a little bit of a recap. 4,500 square meters of glorious gardens. Very private, partially fenced and we’re in a brilliant part of the world from a location point of view.
Very leafy suburb. Beautiful trees and plants everywhere. The house is an original house is block, so it’s a little maintenance. We’ve got our three bedrooms and a big bathroom up the side with the magic shower and the toilet in the laundry. Of course, the converted single garage that, again, you can use for a car, but why would you when you have got the most amazing three bay high sealed shed with an awning?
It is just it’s brilliant. Of course, you’ve got the inspection pit there as well. This property is perfect for big family, young couple, Airbnb. That side exit there, side entrance I should say, and, of course, we’ve got that magic spa that you can relax in at the end of the day.
